While questions of intellectual property and the era of financial crisis melt with strategies of survival, a recent and ongoing research is based on one fotographic series, shot by the ISS-astronauts, showing unknown and irritating beauty of the surface of the earth, blurring national borders and cultural identities into abstract essence. Juxtaposing with two series of the Mars robots „Observer“ and „Spirit“ the panoramatic and fragmented images show empty and stony landscapes, sometimes in true color, sometimes in false color and sometimes in 3-D in low‑ and high resolution (bridgeing an up to 320 Million km distance of datatransmission). Reproducing these archival records distributed by the NASA as paintings, opens new perspectives towards intellectual property, identity, science and narrativity. Its a challenge of perceiption and abstraction, referenceing Robert Smithsons research of (mythical) landscape, of fiction and industrial/archival spaces used during the 60´s in fotography as well as new challenge towards the topic of „landscape“ used in painting for almost two centuries.
